Winter Hymnal – Concert on 3rd Dec 2023
This was a lovely concert on a winter afternoon with special guests, violinists Charlie Roberts and Nina Doig.
Charlie and Nina played some beautiful duets and solo pieces, as well as accompanying us in The Snow.
We sang a variety of songs, including our Isle of Man programme, Underneath the Stars (a Kate Rusby song), White Winter Hymnal with body percussion and a few carols and Christmas songs.
Light up a Life for St Anne’s Hospice
Once again we sang at St Peter’s Church, Hale on Wed 6th Dec for the annual Light up a Life service. The choir sang the beautiful Where the Light Begins (Susan LaBarr) during the lighting ceremony.
Halecroft Residential Home and The Bull’s Head, Hale Barns
On Thursday 14th Dec, we sang carols for the residents of Halecroft Residential Home. Many residents came down to hear us sing and they joined in with some of the well-known carols.
We continued the evening across the road at The Bull’s Head, where we sang carols then disappeared upstairs for our own social with buffet.
Carols in the Stamford Quarter, Altrincham
Our final performance of the year was on Saturday 16th December where we sang carols for an hour in the Stamford Quarter as part of the Festive Family Fun Day. We collected £124.85 for CAFT (the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust). A half day visit for a family to CAFT costs £12, so we were able to fund 10 visits.
We had a fantastic weekend in the Isle of Man where we competed in the Festival of Choirs.
We are very proud of our performance – we came 4th of 7 in our section, competing against some very accomplished choirs. We got a distinction in all four pieces, and were only one mark away from 3rd place.
