Our next concert is very soon – Thursday June 11th at 7:15pm at Sale Waterside. This is very exciting for us as this is part of Sale Festival and we will be joined by the fabulous Ashton on Mersey Showband. Tickets are available here .

Ashton on Mersey Showband were formed early in 1973 as the school band of Ashton on Mersey School, Sale, Cheshire. The band’s repertoire now boasts music from the 40’s, marches and big band numbers through to arrangements of the greatest musicals, Michael Bublé and even Take That and Oasis! Over the years, the band has raised over 1 million pounds for local, national and military charities and looks forward to continuing that work for many years to come.

We had our wonderful summer concert ‘Hope for Peace’ on Saturday 9th May, where we were joined by the fabulous Wessex Male Choir. We were joined by the wonderful James Watkins who stepped in as our temporary MD as Ben was unavailable.

Ben talks about his journey to becoming a musical director, the specifics of an all female choir and the music they enjoy performing. Hear tracks from the choir interspersed amongst the interview. They discuss the choir’s focus on upper-voice repertoire, inclusive rehearsals, and the joy of communal singing after the pandemic.

Ben explains his approach to teaching, blending technique with emotion from the start, the social and mental-health benefits of choir participation, and how Di Voci balances classical and contemporary pieces.
